Rail Worker Assessment Categories

Before your rail worker medical assessment, we will need to determine which category you fall under. There are three rail worker safety medical categories, each requiring a different set of tests depending on whether your role involves safety or non-safety critical work.

Category 1: You are in this category if you are a rail safety worker who performs safety-critical work where sudden illness or incapacity could result in dangerous conditions for the general public or rail network.

Category 2: You are in this category if you are a rail safety worker who performs safety-critical work where sudden illness of incapacity would not threaten the safety of the general public or rail network.

Category 3: You are in this category if you are a rail worker who performs non-safety critical work where your health and fitness have no direct impact on the rail network.
